Development teams

The combination of experience, inovation and technology forms the basis of a new armoured vehicle from farmingtons. Our specialiced project teams are involved in every step of the development phases from concept throught to manufacturing.

Leading Strategy Team

The purpose of this team is to establish product performance criteia and develop a robust concept to meet ever changing threats, increased performance requirements and explore latest materials technology. This team monitors the product through the process from concept to ballistic and dynamic testing.

Packaging Team

One of the first steps in the development process is to digitise the donor vehicle body to establish the key hard points to which the armour systems will be mounted. This data becomes the initial CAD model from with all designs are formed.

Design and Engineering Team

Utilising Catia V5, our design engineers create the module designs to form a balllistic safety cell. The CAD system allows the designers to visualise the armour installation to elliminate ballsitic gaps and maximise protection.

Simulation Team

In order to save time and expense on destructive testing, Farmintons employs the use of CAE technology to simulate material performance to identify weak points in the ballistic cell.

Prototyping Team

Once we have confidence in the designed package, the initail prototype is built and where necessary design chages are incorporated. This prototype is used as the engineering sign off module which then is progressed to the testing phase.

Quality Insurance

During the whole prototyping phase our quality team monitors every step of the assembly.  This team then uses CAD data to generate manufacturing processes instruction to control all aspects of the manufacturing process.
